Summer Camp Counselor

(AGES 18+)

June 6 - August 8, 2026


Camp Skyline is located in Almont, Michigan. Here at Skyline we are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals who have a passion for working with children in an outdoor setting. These individuals will also have the desire to learn and develop life skills both as a leader and as an individual. Our staff members will join a community of counselors and campers that are looking for a life-changing, service based summer experience. Skyline works to give staff a space to learn about themselves and the world around them as they develop skills and experience in problem solving, communication, creativity, leadership, and flexibility.

  1. Summer Camp Counselors have a desire to work with children ages 5-15 and a willingness to learn about working with adults with special needs for 1 week of camp.

  2. They are able to apply information learned in training to their experiences with our campers. 

  3. Summer Camp Counselors build community, ensure camper well being and safety, lead camp activities, and in general do what needs to be done. 

  4. Counselors are kind, smart, and self motivated. They have a desire to learn new things. They can adapt and are flexible with change. They are energetic, creative, hard-working problem solvers.

Camp Counselors will:

  • Create meaningful relationships with campers.

  • Assist campers with activities of daily living while maintaining physical and emotional safety.

  • Guide and support campers in participation in group and all-camp activities. 

  • Lead activities for groups of 12-14 campers. Activities include: wild edible hikes, gardening, tree climbing, cooking, farm tours, goat walks, pond play, boating, catch & release fishing, archery, journaling & sketching, sports & games, singing & drumming, low ropes course, shelter & fire building, free play and more.

  • Participate in Staff trainings and in weekly trainings on Sundays.

  • Be open to working with campers with a variety of needs and understand that flexibility is a guiding principal in camp’s day to day success

  • Weekly diligent and thorough cleaning of camp facilities.

  • Be an active member is a diverse staff community


Counselors work from Sunday at 10am until Friday at 5pm. Saturdays after staff training are off. Counselors housing is in a dorm style building with other counselors. Compensation is a weekly stipend, in addition to food and lodging. Base salary for Summer Camp Counselors is $435 per week.
