Health and Wellness Assistant

Camp Skyline is located in Almont, Michigan. At Skyline we embrace each camper with love and acceptance. We believe that experiences in the natural world with community help develop resilience, joy, and kindness in our campers. Safety is our first priority in serving our campers and staff at camp. Our days and nights are full with programs and activities that aim to send our campers home dirty, tired, and full of joy. 

  1. Our Health and Wellness Assistant has experience in caring for the health, wellness and safety of others and has a current First Aid & CPR certification at minimum. Medical experience preferred.

  2. Our Health and Wellness Assistant will assist the Health and Wellness Director who is responsible for the health and safety of all staff and campers. They will dispense medications to staff and campers, document treatments given, care for sick staff and campers, and respond to calls for help from others. 

  3. Our Health and Welnness Assistant is kind, caring, compassionate and a great communicator. They communicate clearly the needs of all staff and campers with directors and counselors. They are efficient and hard workers who are willing to do what needs to be done.

The population we serve ranges from week to week. 

  • You will care for our staff, ages 16 and up, as they complete their training. We have a staff of about 40 people. 

  • You will care for our day campers, ages 5-12. Most weeks we have about 50-80 day campers per week, in addition to the staff. 

  • You will care for our overnight campers ages 7-75, including 1 weeks of camp for adults with special needs.

    The Health and Wellness Assistant will:

  • Complete two to three hours of online training prior to camps start.

  • Spend time training with our Health and Wellness Director to prepare for camp & the arrival of staff. 

  • Organize, maintain cleanliness, and inventory the contents of the Infirmary.

  • Create first aid kits for staff and keep these stocked for the summer.

  • Read all health forms for all staff and campers before their arrival

  • Meet with Directors to communicate needs, observations, and to make sure you have supplies needed

  • Document all treatment and medications given to staff and campers in CampBrain daily.

  • Dispense medications for staff and campers daily.

  • Respond to calls for assistance and help from staff for health and safety related reasons

  • Care for sick and/or injured campers and staff, communicate with the directors about what needs to be communicated to families

  • Be present throughout the day at programs

  • Do what needs to be done to assist staff and camp operations
