Stewardship Club is an opportunity to get involved in a way that will hopefully shape the literal landscape of Skyline for both current and future generations. Volunteers will remove woody invasive species, including oriental bittersweet and autumn olive, through mechanical cutting coupled with targeted herbicide application. In the spring, activities may pivot to simple hand-pulling of other invasive plants, such as garlic mustard.
Activities will involve a short hike to the worksite and a morning of working outdoors, including during the winter season, so please dress accordingly!
Where to meet?
We’ll meet at the front entrance of Skyline at 5650 Sandhill Road in Almont, no need to drive up the hill. Please park in the parking lot near the gray porta potty.
What to wear and bring?
Dress in layers depending on the weather to be comfortable for 3 hours working outdoors. Waterproof coats, long sleeve shirts, long pants and closed-toed shoes are strongly recommended.
Bring a backpack for your water bottle and possibly a snack.
Bug spray.
Work gloves, if you have them.
Your signed paper waiver if you did not already send it to Megan.
What not to bring?
Pets or diamond earrings
We look forward to seeing you out here this season!
