Now both a summer camp and a year-round conference center, Skyline was created from a gift to First Presbyterian Church of Birmingham in the 1960s and established as a camp providing Christian education for children and adults from throughout southeastern Michigan.  The members of the church, including Skyline’s benefactor, believed that Skyline could be a part of the solution to the challenges that were dividing our community in that tumultuous period.

A Great Investment

Through the years Skyline has fulfilled that mission, building facilities, developing quality programming and establishing a strong financial foundation.  It has also continued to emphasize the need to serve individuals and groups in need, and to create common ground between people from different backgrounds. 

In order to expand our mission and services, Skyline became a separate 501(c)(3) organization in 2005. Skyline’s new programs continue to build on its proud history of providing safe, quality camp, conference and retreat experiences for an ever-widening array of groups, including people of different faiths, races, economic backgrounds and abilities – whether physical, mental or emotional.

As we move forward, all of us at Skyline are committed to fulfilling our mission: Welcoming and serving all, especially those in need, by creating sanctuary where God’s creation, spirit and unconditional love can be experienced in a way that nurtures and transforms lives.  To accomplish this, we are working every day to

  • Ensure that Skyline will continue to thrive as an enterprise
  • Provide a great environment for all who visit
  • Help our guests awaken to their potentials and create enduring change in their lives

We are planning physical improvements, developing new programming, and seeking out like-minded guests, partners, staff and contributors.
