2008-2009 Opportunities in Deepening Your Spiritual Journey
Looking for places of centering in God's love and engaging in the wonder of God's grace in all of creation? The Ecumenical Sabbath retreats at Skyline have made a big difference in my life and from the feed-back, a meaningful difference in the spiritual journeys of others as well.
We meet at Skyline Camp and Retreat Center, located in Almont, MI. Skyline has been a church related camp until it moved to 501c3 status. Its mission is to provide camping experiences centered in God's love and also to reach out to kids with special needs during the summer. Another part of its mission is to offer retreats during the rest of the year.
The cost is $75.00 a retreat. This includes housing, a bountiful Sabbath dinner on Sunday evening, breakfast and lunch. It also includes the program and all materials. We're able to offer these retreats at this low price because they are somewhat supplemented by our presbytery and most of the leadership is pro bono. People are also welcome to come for the Monday day time retreat as well for a suggested donation of $25.00.
The retreats begin at 4:00PM on Sunday afternoons and conclude by 4:00P.M. on Monday.
I hope it works out for including some of these retreats in your schedule. We offer a structure with some input, but honor the times when people also claim their own times of prayer and solitude. There is time for worship, exploring a common theme, group discussion and prayer but with lots of free time as well with various Sabbath-keeping options available--like a book cart filled with books on spirituality, a spirituality center, a prayer trail and a labyrinth.
These retreats are ecumenical and we warmly welcome all journeys of faith. Please post this schedule in your own church's or organization's newsletter and help us get the word out. All are invited to the monthly ecumenical Sabbath retreats sponsored by the Spiritual Formation and Faith Development Ministry Team of the Presbytery of Detroit and Skyline Camp and Retreat Center.
Blessings,
Kate Thoresen
